[ 研究概要 ]
Recent years, since xanthanoids, sesquiterpenelactone, was found to have various kinds of bioactivities, such as allelopathy activity, anti-tumor activity, farnesyltransferase inhibitory activity, and so on, they are expected to be potent agrichemical and medical drugs. Their synthetic methods, however, has not been established. We succeeded in construction of the xanthanoid skeleton, and achieved efficient total synthesis of sundiversifolide isolated from sunflower seeds, 8-epixanthatin, and dihydroxanthatin. We also determined absolute configuration of sundiversifolide. As a result of several bioassays, we found not only allelopathy activity but also anti-fungal activity. We are undertaking SAR studies, development of bioprobes, and synthesis of more active compounds.
