[ 研究概要 ]
It is devoted to analyzing a work of art (a painting) from the mathematical point of view. Especially, we are interested in various questions related a tiling determined by one shape like Escher’s works, and also we are investigating how a geometric ratio plays a part for the composition of some singular art.
For example, it was shown that there exists a golden rectangle in “the Great Wave at Kanagawa” which plays the pivotal role of the composition (see the analysis in Figure).
